This area takes its pizza seriously.
Finding the best pizza in Tecumseh Michigan means knowing which spots the locals actually order from – not just the chains with the biggest signs. Lenawee County and the surrounding towns have family-run pizza joints that have been doing this for decades, and most of them don’t bother with fancy marketing because they don’t need to.
Here’s where to go, whether you want a sit-down dinner, a Friday night carryout stack, or a road trip pizza stop on the way back from the lake.
Clinton Hometown Pizza is a 10-minute drive from downtown Tecumseh and worth every mile. Family-owned, locally managed, and established back in 1986 – this is the kind of place where regulars don’t even look at the menu anymore.
They’re at 131 W. Michigan Avenue in Clinton. The big draw? Their two-super-pizzas-for-one-low-price deal. That’s not a gimmick. That’s how they’ve been doing it for almost 40 years.
Beyond pizza, they do calzones and subs that hold their own. Delivery is available after 3 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and after 5 PM the rest of the week (except Monday – they’re closed). Wednesday and Friday they open at 11 AM for lunch. Call ahead at 517-456-7477 or order online at clintonhometownpizza.com.
If you live in Tecumseh and haven’t tried Clinton Hometown yet, fix that this week.
Brownie’s House of Pizza is a Tecumseh institution at 1002 W. Chicago Boulevard. Open since well before most of us were ordering pizza, this spot keeps things simple and does them right.
The taco pizza is the one everyone talks about. It’s not a trend – it’s been on the menu for years and it’s still the thing people recommend first. The Chicken Shawarma pizza is the other standout if you want something different from the usual pepperoni-and-mushroom order.
Brownie’s is a no-frills operation. Limited hours (Wednesday through Saturday, 4-8 PM), cash or card, and the food speaks for itself. While you wait, check out the old photos of Tecumseh on the walls. It’s a little time capsule.
Heads up: they’re closed Monday through Tuesday, so plan accordingly. When they’re open, they’re busy – especially Friday nights. Call 517-423-8324 to order ahead.
Sal’s is the spot when you want more than just pizza but you definitely still want pizza. Located at 1400 W. Chicago Boulevard in Tecumseh, this is a full Italian restaurant with a bar, craft beers on tap, and specialty martinis.
The lunch move here is the all-you-can-eat soup, salad, and pizza bar from 11 AM to 2 PM. That’s a dangerous amount of pizza for one person, and it’s exactly as good as it sounds.
For dinner, the menu goes deep – pasta, entrees, the works. But the pizza is still the anchor. Homemade sauce, generous toppings, and the kind of crust that tells you they’re not cutting corners.
Sal’s is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 AM to 9 PM. Closed Wednesdays. They also do catering in their Coliseum Room for groups up to 40, which is worth knowing if you’re planning a birthday or a team dinner. Hit them at 517-423-6688 or check eatatsals.com.
B.C. Pizza of Brooklyn is the Irish Hills pizza pick. Located at 168 Wamplers Lake Road in Brooklyn – about 25 minutes from Tecumseh – this is the one you hit when you’re out at the lakes or coming back from a day in the Irish Hills.
BC Pizza has been doing the hometown handmade thing since 1988. Their dough is made fresh every day with their own recipe, and their Classic Red sauce uses vine-ripened tomatoes that are hand-sorted. That’s not typical for a pizza place this size, and you can taste the difference.
Dine in, carryout, or delivery – all options work here. They’re a member of the Irish Hills Regional Chamber, and they’re the go-to for anyone staying at a lake house or cottage in the area. Call 517-592-5555.
Tecumseh Tavern isn’t a pizza-first restaurant, but their pizza deserves a spot on this list. Located at 206 E. Chicago Boulevard in downtown Tecumseh, the Tavern has a full menu with a recently updated selection that includes pizza alongside burgers, salads, and entrees.
The real appeal here is eating pizza in a proper downtown restaurant setting – full bar, craft cocktails, and a menu that lets everyone in your group order something different. One person gets pizza. One person gets a burger. Everyone’s happy.
It’s also the most walkable option on this list. Park once downtown and you’re there.
Marco’s Pizza in Tecumseh is the go-to when you want reliable delivery on a weeknight and don’t feel like cooking. It’s a franchise, sure, but locals consistently rate this location’s pies above average for the chain.
Good for: large orders, game night, feeding kids who just want cheese pizza. They’re fast, they deliver, and they’re open when some of the smaller shops are closed.
If you’re willing to drive to Adrian – about 20 minutes from Tecumseh – Downtown Dempsey’s is the legacy pick. They’ve been using the same pizza recipe and dough for over 40 years. Same recipe. Same dough. Four decades.
That kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident. Dempsey’s is the pizza spot that Adrian locals get territorial about. If you ask someone from Adrian where to get pizza, this is the first name out of their mouth.
Friday night carryout: Clinton Hometown Pizza or Brownie’s. Order ahead.
Date night pizza dinner: Sal’s. Full bar, real atmosphere, and the all-you-can-eat lunch deal if you’re going daytime.
Lake day pizza: B.C. Pizza of Brooklyn. It’s right there in the Irish Hills.
Quick weeknight delivery: Marco’s or Clinton Hometown.
Downtown walk-in: Tecumseh Tavern. No advance planning needed.
