Tecumseh, Michigan.A SMALL TOWN WORTH THE DRIVE FROM ANN ARBOR
Description

Uncle Davey's is the downtown Britton ice cream shop. It sits on West Chicago Boulevard, about 10 minutes east of Tecumseh on M-50. Britton is small enough that the ice cream shop is genuinely a destination, not a drive-through stop, and the place leans into that.

The menu is soft-serve and sundaes plus pizza and casual eats, which is a combination that sounds odd until you have done it and realize that is the whole evening sorted in one stop. Outdoor seating is part of the appeal in warm weather. Prices land on the inexpensive side, and portions get called generous, which is the kind of thing parents notice and remember.

Regulars rave about both the pizza and the ice cream, and there is some kind of ice cream challenge that people keep mentioning. Staff get described as friendly and patient, which matters when there is a kid at the counter trying to decide between three flavors.

Takeout works, kids are welcome, and it is worth the short drive from Tecumseh on a summer night. Call ahead in shoulder seasons to confirm hours.
