Description
755 acres of gardens, trails, and a skywalk. Hidden Lake Gardens is an arboretum and botanical garden on M-50 in Tipton, run by Michigan State, with collections of rare conifers, hostas, and bonsai laid out across paths that take however long you want them to.
Open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM, closed Mondays. Admission runs $10 cash, which is one of the better deals in the area for what you actually get to walk through.
The skywalk bridge gets called out as a real standout, alongside the conservatory and the bonsai garden. Trails are well-kept, the staff has a reputation for being helpful, and accessible options exist for visitors with mobility needs. Parking is ample. Picnics are part of the program, so pack something and stay a while.
This is the slow, green, leave-your-phone-in-your-pocket kind of outing. Make it the anchor of a day in the Irish Hills, then loop back toward Tecumseh for food. Dogs are allowed and restrooms are on site. A genuine local favorite, and one of those rare spots that rewards the longer you stay.
