Curtis Farm Market on Austin Road in Napoleon Township has been farming this land for over 100 years. It runs as a seasonal roadside stand open daily from 11 AM to 6 PM through Halloween. What you find shifts week to week: sweet corn in midsummer, watermelons and cantaloupes mid-season, then fall squash, pumpkins - including specialty peanut pumpkins - gourds, and mums through mid-October.
Co-owner Dennis Curtis still works the operation. Mums run in multiple colors and bloom through mid-October. Sweet corn sells out fast when it comes in. The market is also part of the Grand River Farmers Market circuit in Jackson during the growing season.
If you time a visit between July and October, the variety is the point. Call ahead at (517) 536-4158 in the shoulder or off season - the roadside stand runs on what the fields are producing.
