You’ve got more options than you think.
Looking for bars in Tecumseh Michigan? The town itself has a handful of solid spots, but the real list opens up when you include the lakes, the Irish Hills, and the towns nearby. Within a 20-minute drive of downtown Tecumseh, you’ve got lakeside patios, sports bars with 24 taps, dive bars that have been pouring since your grandparents’ generation, and a few spots that genuinely surprise people.
Here’s where to go depending on what kind of night you’re after.
Embers Bar & Grill has been open since 1968, making it one of the longest-running businesses in Tecumseh. That alone tells you something.
Located at 1370 W. Chicago Boulevard, Embers does crafted cocktails, local beers, and handmade American pub food. The burger menu is the obvious draw, but the house-made pork rinds are the sleeper hit. Steaks are solid too.
Hours: closed Mondays, open noon to 10 PM Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 11 PM Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8 PM Sunday. The vibe is neighborhood bar – you’ll see regulars at the bar, families at the tables, and nobody’s pretending to be anything they’re not.
If you live in Tecumseh and don’t have a go-to bar yet, start here. Call 517-423-2601.
B Town Bar & Grill is technically in Blissfield (108 S. Lane Street), but it’s only 15 minutes from Tecumseh and it earns its spot on this list.
Pool table, dance floor, sports on TV, and prices that won’t make you flinch. The food menu is deeper than you’d expect – burgers, coney dogs, Greek wraps – because the same family runs the Coney Island next door. Order from either menu while you’re there.
B Town is the bar where you show up not knowing what kind of night it’ll be and it turns into a good one. Casual, unpretentious, cold beer.
Beach Bar Upper Deck is the summer bar. Connected to the Artesian Wells complex on Clark Lake, the Beach Bar is where boats dock up, golf carts roll in, and the live music carries across the water.
In the summer, this place has an energy that’s hard to beat. Lake views, outdoor seating, cold drinks, and a crowd that’s there because the weather is perfect and they don’t want to be anywhere else.
In the winter, the Beach Bar pivots to cozy – their tomato soup is a local favorite, and the views of the frozen lake are genuinely beautiful. It’s a different vibe but still worth the trip.
The Beach Bar is part of the larger Artesian Wells property at the corner of US-12 and US-127. You can start here and end up at the main tavern, or vice versa.
Speaking of which. Artesian Wells Sports Tavern is the anchor of the whole Clark Lake bar scene. Family-owned since 2001, built into a historical landmark that’s been serving drinks for nearly a century.
Twenty-four different beers on tap. Full food menu with smoked wings, pulled pork, walleye dinners, and pizza. Multiple TVs for game days. Banquet rooms downstairs for private events.
The real draw is the outdoor patio, which is massive. Summer Bike Nights bring live music and a crowd. Regular nights are more laid-back – grab a table outside, order a flight, and watch the sun set over the lake.
This is the bar you bring out-of-towners to when they say “there’s nothing to do out here.” Watch their face when they see the patio.
Eagle’s Nest is the lakeside bar at Eagle Point Marina on Clark Lake. The address is 1200 Eagle Point Road, Clarklake, MI.
This is a burger-and-beer spot right on the water. If you’re out on Clark Lake for the day – boating, fishing, swimming – this is where you end up. Dock your boat and walk in. The food is straightforward pub fare and the setting does the heavy lifting.
Eagle’s Nest is part of the broader Artesian Wells family of properties, so the quality and service are consistent. Call 517-529-7116 for hours, which vary by season.
Flamingo Beach Grille & Bar is at 4321 Michigan Avenue in Tipton, about 20 minutes from Tecumseh. Two full bars, live music nights, a screened-in porch for outdoor seating, and a menu that covers burgers, sandwiches, and enough variety to keep everyone at the table happy.
Open for lunch and dinner most days (closed Tuesdays). Friday and Saturday nights run until midnight. This is the Irish Hills bar pick – if you’re already out that way for the day, Flamingo Beach is where the night starts.
The screened porch is the move in summer. Inside works year-round. Family-friendly during the day, bar crowd at night. Call 734-627-7800.
Devils Lake Inn sits on Walnut Street in Manitou Beach, right on Devils Lake – the largest inland all-sports lake in southern Michigan.
The village of Manitou Beach itself is walkable and compact, with shops, restaurants, and galleries within a few blocks. Devils Lake Inn is a good base for a lake day that turns into a lake night. The Highland Inn nearby has been serving the Devils Lake crowd since 1927, adding even more options in the area.
If you’re looking for a bar trip that doubles as a mini getaway, Manitou Beach delivers. It’s 25 minutes from Tecumseh and feels like a different world.
Tecumseh Tavern at 206 E. Chicago Boulevard is the downtown Tecumseh bar option. Full bar with craft cocktails, an extensive spirits selection, and a food menu that was recently updated.
The Tavern is the most walkable bar on this list – park once downtown and you’re set. Good for a drink after shopping, a casual dinner, or a nightcap after a show at the Tecumseh Center for the Arts.
Not a dive. Not a club. Just a solid bar in the middle of town where the drinks are made well and the food is better than it needs to be.
