This Weekend in Tecumseh: May 2-3, 2026

Generated 2026-04-30 by the blog-content prototype.

The weather forecast is the kind of weekend where you wear a cardigan and sunglasses at the same time. Sixty-eight on Saturday, gentle wind, fifty-two and clear by Sunday morning. If you’ve been waiting for the right Saturday to drive in, this is one of them.

Here’s what’s actually open and worth the trip.

Saturday morning: Farmers Market is in

The Tecumseh Farmers Market runs Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM on Evans Street, under the covered shed. Early May means the first asparagus, last year’s preserved jams from a few of the regulars, fresh herbs and starts if you’re putting in a garden, and the bakery stand that runs out of cinnamon rolls before 10. Plan accordingly.

Park at the Chicago Boulevard public lot and walk one block north.

Saturday afternoon: A six-block walking loop

If you’re already downtown, the day-trip shopping loop takes about ninety minutes and hits the eight independent shops most worth knowing. Selma’s Opal, Boulevard Market, Patina Jewelry, Hopscotch for kids, and Martin’s Home Center for the texture of a hardware store that’s been on the same corner since 1947.

Harvest Chocolate is on Mother’s Day prep mode. The seasonal box drops next weekend, but the regular bars are in stock now and the people working the shop will tell you which one to pick if you describe who it’s for.

Saturday lunch

Two answers depending on what you want.

If you want a sit-down with a kitchen: Rosie’s Tecumseh Cafe on Chicago Boulevard. All-day breakfast, lunch sandwiches, the cinnamon roll on a separate plate as a third course because nobody is judging.

If you want a tea room with a real garden: The British Pantry Tea Garden Cafe. Saturdays book up earlier than you’d think; call ahead if you want the patio.

Sunday: Slower energy

Sunday in Tecumseh is the slow version. Most shops are closed or open late. Coffee at Musgrove & Company starting at 8 AM. The Tecumseh Center for the Arts has a Sunday matinee at 2 PM most weeks – check what’s on the calendar.

If the weather holds, the trail at Indian Crossing Trails Park is the easy answer for an afternoon walk that doesn’t involve a freeway. Two miles, mostly flat, runs along the river.

What’s NOT happening this weekend (saving you a drive)

  • The Schedule of Adornments festival is December, not May. (Some old guides on the internet still list May. They’re wrong.)
  • The Boulevard Social on April 18 already happened. Next big event is the Memorial Day Classic Car Show on May 25.
  • Tecumseh Paddling Company opens for the season May 15. This weekend is too early.

If you’re driving in

From Ann Arbor: US-23 South, M-50 East, about thirty-five minutes. From Plymouth or Northville: about forty-five.

Park once on Chicago Boulevard. Walk everything. Drive home full of cinnamon roll.
