April 18. Downtown Tecumseh. 10am – 5pm.
If you’ve been secretly watching Bridgerton and wishing you could actually live it for a day – this is your moment.
The Regency Boulevard Social Tecumseh is taking over downtown on Saturday, April 18, and it’s genuinely one of the most fun things to happen here in a while. Think: a full day of outdoor games, live music, a community picnic, a costume contest (yes, the Queen will allegedly be in attendance), and of course – the shops.
Here’s what’s happening, so you can plan your day.
All Day:
Croquet on the green. A Boulevard Scavenger Hunt using the Goosechase app – winner takes home a Regency gift basket. Boulevard Bingo (grab your card at participating merchant locations) with a gift card basket up for grabs. And the shops themselves, of course, all open and ready for you to browse.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM:
The Filibusters – Tecumseh High School’s traveling string quintet – will be serenading the downtown streets while you stroll. There’s something genuinely delightful about shopping to live music.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM:
Community Picnic at Adams Park (right next to City Hall), with a string quartet playing. Pack a blanket. Linger. This is the part where you talk to people you’d normally just nod at.
1:00 PM:
Costume Contest registration opens at Adams Park.
1:30 PM – 2:00 PM:
The Regency Costume Contest kicks off. Regency-inspired attire is encouraged but never required. The prize? Two tickets to The Stacy Mansion Afternoon Tea – worth showing up in a bonnet for.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM:
The Filibusters return for one more round of downtown serenading.
If you want to make a full weekend of it, The Stacy Mansion is adding their own programming:
Worth checking their calendar if you want the whole Regency experience.
Downtown Tecumseh is walkable, parking is easy, and the shops are genuinely worth your time – not just as backdrop, but as the actual destination. Browse first, then picnic, then stay for the contest.
Gloves optional. Good company required.
